General Services

This is a list of general services offered by the St. Mary Council on Aging. Please contact our main offices or one of our senior centers for more information

Outreach:

Initial Contact is made in order to identify clients and encourage the use of existing services and benefits. Client’s services are update and re-assessed yearly.

Information and Assistance

This is an on-going service to determine the needs of clients and then to provide current information on services provided by SMCOA agency. Clients are linked to those opportunities and follow up procedures are established.

Medical Alert

Personal Emergency Response Systems are available through Acadian on Call at a reduce cost to SMCOA clients.

Nutrition Services

Both Congregate and Home Delivered meals are available each weekday to those who qualify. Meals are Nutrition counseling is available for clients and their families as well.

Senior Transportation:

SMCOA operates a non-emergency transportation service. Clients are asked to call at least _____ days before an appointment to request transportation. Requests should be made by 12 noon the day before. The transportation driver will make every effort to accommodate the request but SMCOA cannot guarantee availability.

Those who qualify may be transported to medical appointments, some personal errands, and nutrition sites. Clients should be ready (___ minutes or 1 hour) before their scheduled appointment

Passengers must wear seat belts at all times. They must remain seated until the van comes to a complete stop and the driver gives instructions to de-board.

Passengers are not allowed to eat, drink or smoke on SMCOA vans

If a client must cancel their reservation, they are asked to notify SMCOA as soon as possible.
